Claude inside PowerPoint, for building and editing decks

Anthropic's Claude now lives inside PowerPoint itself, reading your templates and making edits in real time so you stay in one place instead of bouncing between a chat window and your deck.

What it is. Claude running natively inside Microsoft PowerPoint. You can ask it to build slides from scratch, make targeted edits to existing ones, or iterate on a full deck while you work, all without leaving the application.

What it plugs into. Microsoft PowerPoint, available on Claude’s Pro plan. It also connects to live data sources, so information from tools you already use can pull directly into the presentation.

Why it helps. The friction in most AI-assisted slide work is the copy-paste loop: generate something in a chat window, paste it into the deck, reformat it to match your template, repeat. Because Claude here reads your layouts, fonts, and slide masters before touching anything, the edits land in your actual design system rather than on top of it. That closes most of that loop.

How to set it up. You need an active Claude Pro subscription. From there, the integration surfaces inside PowerPoint, Anthropic has handled the Office add-in side. Connect any live data sources you want available, then start a conversation with Claude directly in the panel while your deck is open.

Limits. It is gated to Pro, so there is a subscription cost attached. Complex visual layouts and heavily customized slide masters may still need manual cleanup after Claude touches them. Live data connectors are only as useful as the sources you have authorized, so the setup investment scales with how many tools you want feeding in. And like any LLM working on structured files, it can misread intent when instructions are ambiguous, so specific prompts will get you further than loose ones.
