A curated library of design skill files for AI agents

What it is. A curated GitHub list of 67 DESIGN.md and SKILL.md files, maintained by bergside. Each file is a plain-text instruction set you drop into a project or tool to shape how an AI agent approaches design decisions, from layout and typography choices to component naming and design system conventions.

What it plugs into. Claude Design, Google Stitch, Cursor, Codex, and any other agentic tool that reads context files from your project directory. The pattern is the same one developers already use with CLAUDE.md and similar files to steer agent behavior.

Why it helps. Out of the box, most AI agents make design calls that are generic or inconsistent with how your project is actually set up. A well-written DESIGN.md gives the agent a standing brief: your type scale, your component vocabulary, your spacing logic, whatever matters. You stop correcting the same things on every prompt and the agent starts working closer to your actual standard.

How to set it up. Browse the list at the repo or at typeui.sh/design-skills, find a skill file that matches your context (a design system file, a brand voice file, a component spec), and copy it into your project root or paste it into your tool’s custom instructions. Edit it to match your own conventions before you use it. The files are plain markdown, so there is nothing to install.

Limits. The quality across 67 files is uneven, and some will need real editing before they are useful rather than generic. How much any of these files actually influence an agent depends on the tool and how faithfully it reads context, and that varies a lot between Claude Design, Cursor, and Codex. This is also a community list, so coverage is patchy and there are obvious gaps depending on your stack.
